A year of integration

2007 was a year marked by the process of integration of BAA into Ferrovial, the regulatory and financial process. Continuing with the marked strategy of concentrating on British airports, Ferrovial has sold its stake in Budapest and Sidney airports, and its other stakes in the Australian airports. BAA has continued with all its investment plans for modernising its airport network and improving all their facilities. A major effort was made to apply appropriate service levels to passengers.

The main challenges for 2008 are the opening of Heathrow Terminal 5 and the completion of the regulatory process for the airports in the southern United Kingdom for the next 5 years. Completion of this process will allow refinancing of ADI, the BAA holding company.

Ferrovial is the leading private airport operator in the world with 10 airports handling 158.6 million passengers a year and serving 436 airlines that fly to 1,000 destinations all over the world.

Ferrovial Airports

Ferrovial Airports is the division that integrates all Ferrovial airport operations and management activities. The most important company in this division is BAA. It also manages Belfast Airport (United Kingdom) and Cerro Moreno Airport in Antofagasta (Chile).


Since July 2006, BAA has been owned by the consortium led by Ferrovial, with the participation of Caisse de Dépôt et placement du Québec and Baker Street Investment. BAA owns seven airports in the United Kingdom: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. 324 airlines operate in these airports, flying to 866 destinations and handling 155.8 million passengers. The three London airports alone, the largest in the company, handle 126.5 million passengers a year.

Consolidated into Ferrovial's results for the first complete year, BAA has demonstrated significant progress, both in terms of economic results and improved service quality for its passengers
