Belfast

The airport had a total of 2.16 million passengers, which was an increase of 3.6% on last year. 61.5% of passengers came from low cost flights.

  • 2007 saw less growth than expected, principally due to the sale of British Airways Connect to Flybe, which led to the cancellation of routes that were duplicated. However, this reduction in traffic was compensated for by the introduction of Ryanair in October. The increase in low cost flights has been continuous. According to passenger data from December 2007, the percentage of low cost passengers in Belfast was 61.5%.

  • The outlook is good for an increase in goods traffic, which is estimated at 3% for 2008.
