United Kingdom

1.9 million euros have been assigned to 359 community investment projects. These projects have benefited 134,629 people.

BAA's commitment to the communities around its airports involves supporting their development in the form of donations, social projects and, especially, promoting local employment. Projects are very closely linked with the development and growth of the airports. in fact, with the construction of Heathrow Terminal 5, BAA has developed a new community relations strategy including environmental and educational projects, working with social groups in the communities and putting programmes into practice to facilitate professional skills in young people.

Some of these activities are channelled through BAA's social organisation, BAA Communities Trust, a fund that since its foundation has already managed to raise over 5.3 million euro in donations. This association's activities include:

  • Collaborating with VSO to support its Global Xchange Programme.

  • Being a member of a voluntary organisation for at least three years.

  • Supporting I-Volunteer, the prizes offered by BAA to employees who do voluntary work.
